The 6-step reframe is a classic NLP process for communicating with "parts" of the unconscious mind to resolve internal conflict and establish more productive behaviours.
- Identify the problem part and the problem behaviour.
- Set up direct communication with the problem part and acknowledge its benefits.
- Get clear signals from the part (e.g., ideological signals where a hand gets colder or warmer).
- Ask the part for its highest positive intention.
- Ask the person’s creative part to generate new choices or behaviours that would fulfill that same intention.
- Check for congruence: Ask if all other parts are in agreement. If not, go back to step 5.
- Test and Future Pace.
